Sponsorship

Arch is delighted to be able to sponsor the rising tennis star, Ross-Tiree Wilson

He has been called the No 1 player in the UK for his age and is considered a promising star by the media:

“The smoothness in his strokes, the one-handed backhand, the way he watches the ball are unmistakable; Roger Federer could not help be both honoured and impressed.” The Daily Telegraph

“Ross is one of the most exciting young players in Scotland” Judy Murray (Andy’s Mum!)

“One in a million” The Daily Record

Follow Ross’s story and keep up to date with his progress below:

Summer 2011

Ross has been selected as one of only 3 boys to represent GB in the 2011 European Summer Cup.

He will travel to Roehampton for some training, then over to Leige, Belgium for the qualifying round of this competion.

After an intensive training block, Ross Tiree has been back in competition this week.  He has been competing in the U14 Aegon National Clay Court Championships.  A Grade One tournament – one of only two real benchmark tournaments for players of Ross Tiree’s age in GB.  Delighted to say he has re-established himself as the best ’97 boy in the UK, winning this tournament today.

There is a great photograph, and video of short interview on the LTA website.

Spring 2011

Another chapter in Ross Tiree Wilson’s tennis  journey.  The fantastic news that Judy Murray would be at the University of Stirling on a regular basis, training and guiding a select number of young players, brought about the decision to commit all training there.
Ross Tiree was also offered a full sports scholarship at the private, independent school Beaconhurst, close to the University of Stirling.  With all training, gym, squad commitments already at the University, along with support from the Central Institute of Sport, made it perfect sense for Ross Tiree to accept this generous offer.
Ross Tiree began January settling into his University programme and Beaconhurst school, maximising his time, between tennis and class.  Embarking on a tough training schedule, the rewards of all his hard work in 2010 were acknowledged with the presentation of the “Scotstoun Junior Player of the Year (Male) for 2010”, and attendance at the World U14 Championships in Tarbes France in February.  It was an honour to represent Scotland amongst the very best junior players in the World, and to be involved in such a unique event.
Ross Tiree’s goal for 2011 is to make the top 50 in the U14 Tennis Europe rankings.
At present he is concentrating on a block of training, only competing in local senior tournaments.
The exception to this was an invitation to take part in the County Cup U18 team, playing for the South of Scotland.  This proved to be a historic moment, when the U18 team were promoted from their division for the first time in the history of the competition.  Ross Tiree won all his matches and was honoured to be part of such a successful weekend.

His next Tennis Europe U14 event in Maia, Portugal in the Easter Break, and he looks forward to a summer competing in France and Europe.
Ross  Tiree “I am really pleased with my move to Beaconhurst School and training at the University.  Both are such hard working environments, and I am lucky to be able to take advantage of both to help improve myself.”
Mum Kerry, “2011 is shaping up to be a great year for our son.  He is really privileged training at the University, and works alongside extremely positive role models on a daily basis.  Both within his tennis and amongst other sports as well.  All pieces of the jigsaw are fitting well together!  We really are indebted to Arch for the continued support they have shown Ross Tire.  With fuel costs spiralling, and a growing lad to support, we are extremely grateful for the contribution that Arch makes to Ross Tiree’s tennis.”

Summer 2010

We are pleased to report a successful summer competing in tournaments for Ross Tiree, as he continues to make progress in the Tennis Europe U14 rankings, competing a year young for this age group.

Continuing from where the last update left off, Ross Tiree competed in Rome at the Tennis Europe U14 boys singles.  This tournament was particularly special for the Scottish players who attended as they were fortunate enough to meet Andy Murray and other British players who were competing at the Rome Masters during the same week.  They also met Rafael Nadal, and were taken to watch him play.  This was courtesy of travelling coach Judy Murray, who believes such experiences are an integral part of the development of a player.

Denmark TE U14’s saw Ross Tiree reach the semi finals of both the singles and doubles – a tremendous achievement for a player a year young.

The next two tournaments – Holland and Edinburgh TE U14’s, saw Ross Tiree achieve a place in the quarter finals.

These achievements rewarded him with enough points to break into the top 150, boys U14 in Europe during the summer months.

Most recently Ross Tiree was selected as one of only 2 Scottish boys to compete at the Home Nations Tournament in the U14 category.  Scotland narrowly missed winning the overall event.

Plans ahead

The next few months are very much preparation for Tarbes, France in January 2011.  This is one of the biggest U14 competitions in Europe, where Ross Tiree will be competing in his age group.

He is one of an elite group who will be taken by Tennis Scotland to a selection of European tournaments over the next few months , in preparation for Tarbes.

In the meantime, he continues to attend Balfron High.  The family took the decision to turn down the offer of a full scholarship to Merchiston in Edinburgh, believing the next move for Ross Tiree should be to an Academy abroad.

He remains a focused, hard- working individual who does not take his talent or opportunities for granted.  As he gets older he is taking much more responsibility for his schedule and appreciates the sacrifices and commitment that his family and others make for him.

We all continue to enjoy the experiences that tennis brings Ross Tiree (and his family) and would like to take this opportunity to thank Arch for their contribution to his tennis journey.  It is often when a player achieves success at an older age, than sponsorship is a reward.  We cannot thank Arch enough, for showing foresight in wishing to help Ross Tiree and family when financial help is needed most.

Arch is delighted to announce that we are sponsoring the rising tennis star Ross-Tiree Wilson in 2010. For the past 4 years Ross-Tiree has been the No1 player in the UK for his age and is considered a promising star by the media:

“The smoothness in his strokes, the one-handed backhand, the way he watches the ball are unmistakable; Roger Federer could not help be both honoured and impressed.” The Daily Telegraph

“Ross is one of the most exciting young players in Scotland” Judy Murray (Andy’s Mum!)

“One in a million” The Daily Record

Ross-Tiree trains both in Scotland and in France, where he has links with the famous Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Paris. With two British National Grand Prix U12 titles to his name, he has also experienced success on an international scale. He is the first British boy to win the Boulogne-Billancourt U12 tournament – renowned as the best U12 tournament in Europe! Previous winners include Richard Gasquet, Gael Monfils, Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo.

We are really delighted to be associated with Ross-Tiree and wish him the very best of luck in the future.

Ross-Tiree spent the beginning of April competing in the Azores, then in Nottingham and then France.  These tournaments are all Tennis Europe U14 tournaments.
We are pleased to say that Ross-Tiree is now the highest ranking ’97 boy in the Tennis Europe rankings.  The summer of 2010 is all about putting his training into practise, progressing up the rankings.
Coming up later in April he has a week’s clay court training in Spain, in preparation for another Tennis Europe U14 tournament in Rome that Judy Murray is taking him to.  He will compete home or abroad for most of the summer as well!

It’s clearly a very busy time for Ross-Tiree and his family and we wish them continued success
