Stelo FAQs
1. What are the system pre-requisites for Stelo?
Stelo requires any SAP S/4HANA system or SAP ECC / Netweaver 7.0 application server (or above), with the ABAP and BASIS components installed. (SAP_ABA 700, SAP_BASIS 700). Standard SAPUI5 libraries are required for running any SAP Fiori app on premise.
2. How is Stelo installed on my SAP system?
Stelo is comprised of a back-end component, which is installed as an ABAP add-on using the standard SAP Add-on Installation Tool (transaction SAINT), together with a design-time plug-in component that can be used with Business Application Studio on SAP BTP or with Microsoft Visual Studio Code.
3. Does Stelo replace or complement Fiori?
Stelo does not replace Fiori, it is a tool to enable organisations to better exploit Fiori.
4. Does the Stelo interface use oData?
Yes, all communication between the SAP back-end and the Stelo apps is handled using oData via pre-delivered SAP Gateway services. The difference with Stelo is that no SAP Gateway service development is required. UI logic is added in a generated app at design time, and business logic is added in the SAP back-end system using configuration settings and ABAP user-exits.

5. What is the run-time architecture used for Stelo?
As with any Fiori app, Stelo apps can be deployed to an on-premise system or to SAP BTP.

6. Is Stelo delivered with library apps?
Stelo is shipped with 2 apps: Stelo Inbox and Stelo Dashboard.
Stelo Inbox is an inbox app for any multi-step Fiori processes built using Stelo, which works out-of-the-box.
Stelo Dashboard is an administration tool to monitor all processes managed using Stelo apps.
7. Are Stelo apps run on premise or in the cloud?
Like any Fiori app, you can deploy Stelo apps to an on premise SAP Fiori LaunchPad or to SAP Work Zone on BTP.
8. Do Stelo apps adhere to Fiori guidelines?
Yes, as with any Fiori app, the Fiori guidelines can be followed at the developers’ discretion.
9. How is Stelo licensed?
Stelo is licensed on an annual subscription basis, based on the number of apps. For large numbers of apps, an Enterprise licence is available for unlimited apps and users.
10. What developer skills are required to build an app using Stelo?
The skillset is the same as for any Fiori app development: ABAP and SAPUI5 (including HTML, CSS, JavaScript) are required.
In addition, understanding the development process using Stelo is required.
11. What training is available for Stelo?
A 3-day training course is available, together with on-line customising and administration guides. Please refer to the training page for details of available training courses.
